Miles Ahead

Miles is moving right along...at a fast pace actually. He is 18 months old now. He has a vocabulary of about 30+ words...some English and some Spanish. He can even say a couple of very simple sentences. Maggie is still his girlfriend at daycare and he loves to say her name and tell us stories about her (which we do not understand all the time). They have been close since the infant room. I hope they stay in they same classroom throughout.

Viruses are pretty bad right now at the daycare. Miles is on his second bout of the Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. After this season they say he should be immune. I had no idea it was a very normal thing to get as a child! I guess it is better now than in kindergarten though.

Playing drums is still Miles' favorite thing to do. He is actually getting very interested in harmonica, flute, and guitar. We have to hide the guitar from him time to time. He still prefers any music dvd to cartoons or children's programs. He also loves to sing and manages to always hit the right key of whatever is playing. He can also be vocal in other ways...i.e. screaming for fun...or when mad. After asking his teachers at daycare if he is the same way there...they say he has never screamed there. I guess he just likes to test us at home.

Art is Miles' other favorite pastime...especially if it involves his dad's pens and highlighters while he is trying to study. He is definitely showing signs of being like his Uncle Awesome with art and music.

We actually got a wonderful report from his school. They say,"he is an adorable and sweet boy who warms are hearts everyday". It also stated that, "Miles has a sense of ownership, especially when it comes to his little blanket or shoes." I thought that was pretty cute.

Well I guess that is enough bragging for now...he is easy to brag about though!

To Murphy, NC for Reed and Kathleen's Wedding

This was the first time Miles actually got to see his father play live. We were not sure how it would go over. Let's just say it was VERY hard keeping him from the outdoor stage...and there were some tears involved. He did not understand the concept of Pipo (what Miles calls Andy...a nickname for "dad" in Cuba) playing drums without him. So we let him have his own concert for a bit.

Getting very sleepy...way past bedtime.

Trip to Dollywood's Splash Country in August

Yes the snuggly went in the water too! This water park was slightly overwhelming for the little guy. So the snuggly stayed with him throughout the day.

Dreaming of Drumming

These are a couple shots I got of Miles over the summer napping at Grand Bob and Abuela's house. He would not let go of his drum stick...happens often.

Visit to Charlotte in July...sorry so late!

After a quick bath before heading home...and a few licks from Sedona

Meet the Rays!

Great granddad Ray got out granddad Ray's old rocking chair...Miles very much enjoyed.
